The 2 CBD Candy Recipes You Should Know

Baking and cooking are skills most people learn at some point. But candy making? That sounds like something you need some special training for. Right?

Here’s the thing: For all the fancy-shmancy show-stopping confections in the world, there are just as many humble candy recipes that you can easily make at home. And just like you can bake and cook with CBD, you can bring CBD into the candy-making mix.

Yes, you can make your own CBD edibles! You just need a few simple tools and the dedication to learn some new tricks to make the treats happen.

In this article, we’re focusing on two basic CBD candy recipes. Once you master the techniques in each of these, you’ll have the skills and confidence to go rogue!

But first, let’s run down the checklist of what you need to make your CBD candy-making projects a success.

Tools Of The Homemade CBD Candy Making Trade

Making CBD candy at home is a small investment up front. Just imagine how much you’ll save over the years, though. Plus, making your own candy means you’re in control of what goes into it. You can avoid fillers and artificial ingredients. That’s a win-win.

  • Candy making molds. Silicone molds are the best because they’re flexible and durable. There’s a huge variety of silicone candy molds out there. (Get ready to be a collector.) For these recipes, the only one you’ll absolutely need is a lollipop mold. A chocolate bar mold is optional.
  • A candy thermometer. Candy thermometers are longer than instant read thermometers, which is what you want when you’re checking the temp of a molten pot of sugar lava.
  • Lollipop sticks. Unless you want to be eating a round disk of hard candy, these are worth the buck or two. You can use wooden skewers in a pinch—just clip off the pointy end.
  • The CBD drops of your choice. Keep in mind that when you’re working with chocolate and confections that involve fat, you’ll want CBD oil drops. For hard candy, go for water-soluble CBD drops. Flavored CBD drops are a great way to layer flavors without needing a bunch of extracts on hand.

Final words of wisdom: Make sure your efforts are worth the time and energy by using a nano-CBD product. Nano-CBD is more bioavailable, so your body can put the CBD to work better and faster.

Once you’ve gathered these components and some other kitchen basics, you can don your apron and whip up some sweetness for your CBD routine.

2 Sweet & Simple Candy CBD Recipes

Making candy is like riding a bike. No —i t’s like riding a BMX bike. Once you learn how to do it, you’ll not only never forget, but you’ll keep on learning new tricks.

These two recipes teach you how to make two types of CBD candy:

  • CBD hard candy (lollipops)
  • CBD chocolates

With these recipes in your mental cookbook, you’ll notice other candy recipes come to you easier. You may even have some ideas of your own! That’s one great thing about candy — the more imaginative you are, the more amazing your creations.

Piña Colada CBD Lollipops

A tropical cocktail meets quite possibly the most nostalgic candy, and CBD was invited to the party. What could be better?

After you try these CBD suckers, you’re sure to have some flavor combo ideas of your own. You can even branch out with different hard candy molds. This recipe was adapted from The Spruce Eats foolproof method for lollipops for the easiest approach possible.(1)

Makes 8 lollipops containing one dose of CBD each.

Ingredients

Equipment & Supplies

  • Lollipop molds
  • 8 lollipop sticks
  • Flavorless cooking oil, such as canola oil, or non-stick cooking spray
  • Candy thermometer
  • Medium saucepan
  • Pastry brush
  • Spoon

Directions

  • Brush or spray the lollipop molds with cooking oil. You don’t want pools of oil, so dab away excess oil with a paper towel.
  • Position the lollipop sticks in the molds.
  • Combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat.
  • Stir to dissolve the sugar, then brush down the sides of the pan with a wet pastry brush.
  • At the first sign of boiling, insert the candy thermometer. Do NOT stir. Allow the mixture to boil until it reaches 300 ℉.
  • Remove from the heat. Let the mixture sit in the pan undisturbed until all boiling stops.
  • Stir in the coconut extract, CBD drops, and food coloring if using.
  • Use a spoon to carefully fill the lollipop molds. Make sure you cover the stick so you aren’t left with sad, stickless disks. Allow to cool for 10 minutes or until hardened, then remove from the molds.

Unless you and seven friends are sending these CBD lollipops down the hatch right away, store them in an airtight container with a label clearly marking the CBD contents.

Alternatively, you can wrap them up in wax paper and twist the end around the stick for a good ol’ fashioned lollipop look. Scribble a quick (or fancy) note on each one stating it’s a CBD-infused sweetie.

Vegan Peppermint CBD Chocolate Bars

You don’t have to be a chocolatier to make mouthwatering chocolate CBD treats. These chocolate bars, adapted from Chocolate Covered Katie, are incredibly easy to make and only have four ingredients — including the CBD.(2) They’re also vegan!

Love chocolate but love it more with other things? Try mixing in crushed peppermint candy, chocolate or peppermint chips, cacao nibs, or nuts of your choice. If chocolate plus peppermint isn’t your jam, use vanilla-flavored CBD oil instead.

Makes one large chocolate bar or four small portions. The entire bar contains two doses of CBD.

Ingredients

Equipment & Supplies

  • Medium saucepan
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon
  • Candy bar mold or sandwich-sized zipper or silicone bag

Directions

  • Melt the coconut oil if it’s not in a liquid state.
  • Mix all ingredients together in a bowl.
  • Transfer to the candy mold, or pour it into a ziplock or silicone bag and evenly distribute. Aka smoosh it down until it looks bar-like.
  • Refrigerate until solid. Remove from the bag or mold.

From here, you can store the chocolate in an airtight container, or wrap the bar in foil and refrigerate. Whichever you choose, label the package so you don’t forget there’s CBD inside!

DIY Delights With CBD

There now, that wasn’t so complicated, was it? Making hemp-infused candy at home is easy, and you can avoid unnecessary ingredients and customize the flavors. Plus, they lay the groundwork for solid CBD candy-making skills.

  • CBD lollipops are a great foundation for making other CBD hard candies.
  • CBD chocolate bars can be made into different shapes with other flavors added, too.

With a few simple tools and your favorite CBD drops on hand, you can make CBD-infused treats anytime.
