Delta-8-THC Buyer’s Guide: How & Where To Buy D8

So, you heard about this thing called delta-8 and you’re wondering how to go about acquiring some.

Maybe you’re looking for something with a bit more oomph than CBD. Maybe you want something less unpredictable than the high from delta-9-THC.

Or, perhaps you’re just curious about this legal marijuana alternative.

Whatever your reason is for shopping for delta-8-THC products, you’re in the right place! We’re running through the basics of delta-8, sometimes referred to by its nickname, D8. We’re also sharing tips for finding the best delta-8 and where it's available.

Delta-8 FAQs

If you love to learn about cannabis compounds, delta-8 is a new frontier to geek out on. We find it pretty fascinating, but we’ll let you decide for yourself.

Here are answers to the most common D8 questions.

What Is Delta-8?

Like its cousin delta-9-THC, delta-8-THC naturally occurs in cannabis. Molecularly, delta-8 and delta-9 have only minor differences.

One key difference: Delta-9 can be abundant in cannabis, while D8 is typically present in very small quantities.

But with the right equipment and know-how, CBD and THC can be transformed into delta-8. It’s not magic, but the science behind it is pretty close!

Folks are discovering D8 as a way to get even more benefits from cannabis beyond CBD and THC. Current evidence suggests it may have therapeutic applications, especially in cancer patients.(1) When it comes to recreational use, it can usually be easier to legally obtain than marijuana, but not always — more on that later.

Does D8 Make You High?

Uplifting, light, and stable are some words that come to mind when describing the effects of delta-8-THC. Users report noticeable effects on the body and mind, but a different outcome than the high from delta-9-THC.

Whereas delta-9-THC can make you feel great on one occasion and paranoia the next, D8 is a mellow, more predictable experience.

Some benefits you might encounter after taking D8 include:

  • Reduced stress
  • Improved appetite (but not munchies in overdrive)
  • Less pain
  • Elimination of nausea
  • Improved sleep
  • Overall relaxation

Is It Legal To Buy Delta-8?

There are two reasons why delta-8 is legal.

  1. The 2018 Farm bill made industrial hemp and extracts from it legal. Industrial hemp contains no more than 0.3% THC, but it’s still packed with more than 60 cannabinoids and hundreds of other plant chemicals.(2) Delta-8 is one of these compounds, making it legal on the federal level.
  2. Delta-9-THC remains a controlled substance, but tetrahydrocannabinols (THCs) found in industrial hemp are not a controlled substance. aka, They’re legal.

But some states are interpreting the law differently. They argue that, since delta-8 in available D8 products isn’t a direct extract from the hemp plant but is synthesized from a hemp extract, it shouldn’t be considered legal.(3) Federal law says tomato; they say to-maht-no.

As of June 2021, 15 states have banned or imposed restrictions on delta-8-THC.(4) If you live in a state that has D8 restrictions, this can make it more challenging to buy delta-8.

But if you live in a D8-friendly state, you’re in the clear to buy delta-8 products online and at whatever establishments your local government allows.

How To Buy Delta-8-THC

Buying D8 isn’t so different from buying CBD oil. The process might involve a little more research your first time around. Once you hone in on your favorite product, it’s smooth sailing.

Where Is D8 Available?

Unlike CBD, which is pretty much everywhere these days, delta-8 can require a bit more searching. You won’t find it at your local CVS pharmacy, though you might find it at some brick-and-mortar locations.

Depending on your state laws, delta-8 may be available in recreational cannabis dispensaries, vape shops, or CBD shops. Or, it may not be available in-person at all.

Buying delta-8 online is generally the easier route. Not only can you get D8 delivered, but it's easier to identify product purity and brand reputation.

Types Of Delta-8 Products

There are many types of D8 products to choose from. Similar to CBD products, you’ll find D8 in these forms:

  • Delta-8 gummies
  • Delta-8 tinctures
  • Delta-8 softgels
  • Delta-8 flowers
  • Delta-8 vape cartridges

Industrial hemp-based vapes and flowesr aren’t allowed in many states. So, edible delta-8 products — especially D8 gummies — tend to be the preferred route for many delta-8 users.

Buying Delta-8-THC In Person

Don’t hesitate to ask questions when shopping for D8 at local dispensaries and establishments. Inquire about the origins, manufacturing processes, and purity of the delta-8 products, as well as the reputation of the brands.

If it’s your first time trying delta-8, make sure you understand the dosage guidelines for your selected product.

Can’t find high-quality D8 near you? Or prefer the convenience and discretion of online shopping? Then it’s time to find it at your fingertips.

Buying Delta-8 Online

Taking to the world wide web is the preferred way to purchase delta-8 for many. D8 products on store shelves don’t come with the abundance of information you’ll find on a website, like:

  • Reviews from real customers
  • The certificate of analysis, which shows its purity and contents
  • A legal memo confirming the legality of the company’s D8 products

Locate and read up on all of these important indicators of product (and seller!) quality. We make it easy for you at Pure Craft — you’ll find all of these items on the product pages for our delta-8 products.
